As many travelers I have a great problem: limited internet connectivity. Traveling over some countries in Asia the blocks are even more extended, even:
- Viber
can be blocked.
Even without traveling as far as Asia anyway also in Europe the situation is pretty bleak – GSM operators love to block VoIP calls. And so do many hotels, organizations .. Using VoIP can be really challenging at times.
I know for sure that many of our partners in France and Italy complained about it – even operators like Vodafone have such limitations. Some of them request upgrading to some special unlimited tariff ..
One solution, using a VPN like pptp, openvpn, ipsec (although also these openvpns can be easily detected and blocked in many scenarios). Minuses?
The set up and maintenance costs of such an infrastructure .. If we need the VPN to make a few calls from time to time we don’t want to go through the hassle of setting up all the infrastructure. Now let’s image we want to choose something simpler, faster, available from our mobile phone .. Which can be set up and used in a few minutes ..
And here it is:

It is free up to 5 hours usage per day which is more of what most of us need, and it works great with VoIP Apps as our Collaboration tool for iOS:

If your operator is blocking your communication freedom either change operator or give this app a try. Let me know if this works for you 😉
