One of the most annoying things is waiting. You have a doctor’s appointment at 4:40 P.M. and you find yourself being number 65 with quite a queue before you. You were on time but you will be seen one hour after the time of your scheduled appointment.

Monday I went for a doctor’s visit and I found myself in this exact situation. A long time ago, in waiting rooms, people would read, usually celebrity gossip or car magazines, because gender is still gender.

Today the scenario is different, the waiting is cheated by smartphones: on Facebook we post photographs of the number of the current patient being examined and we comment that there are still 15 people before it will be our turn, on Instagram we post a worried looking selfie and off with the hashtags: #waiting #healthservicemalfunction…, two people chatting on WhatsApp, someone playing Hearthstone, someone else reading a cooking blog. Killing time basically.

I worked, the other day, almost as if I were in the office.

One of the difficulties I encounter when contacting potential partners, is actually reaching the person I need. Very often, that person is unavailable. Why? What is the reason? Well, I am excluding lame excuses such as the person winking conspiratorially at his secretary and whispering, “Tell him that I’m not here.”

Interactive Voice Response (IVR) is a technology allowing humans to interact with phone systems through DTMF tones input via keypad, or by speech recognition.

Interactive Voice Response is not necessarily related to VoIP technology.

Examples and benefits

An example of IVR is when you call a company or business, and then you hear “press 1 for technical assistance, press 2 for sales support, press 0 to speak to the operator”.
After you make your choice, your call is routed to an extension/call queue, or, for example, a voice message is reproduced to you. Otherwise you enter an IVR submenu which offers more options that you can select.

The family is growing and it is a fantastic experience

The family is growing and it is a fantastic experience.

My second-born recently came into the world and the days following the happy event have been very high-paced and not easy to manage: the little one to look after, my wife in the hospital and work, with all its deadlines and pending matters.

I was still able to fully enjoy the wonderful emotions of the event, regardless of the fact that it is sudden and not easy to plan, without any apprehension because of work, thanks to our technology and to its flexibility.
